Game Vision Statement

  •

Hello there,

In this document I will be going over my visual statement. This game is called Fields of Terror. Fields of Terror is a first-person horror maze-runner where you are being hunted by a horrifying monster known as Hellmouth whilst the player tries to find  a way out of the situation he/she is in, a simple Halloween night turned out to be a horror movie for the character, this game will become reality by using the Unity 3D engine sending PC players flying into the nightmare of Fields of Terror!

You get spawned in right in the canter of the maze with no idea of your sense of direction. You get given a description of what to do in this maze that you are in. The aim is for you to find 8 different books so you can find out the reasoning as to what’s going on and why you are here You begin to explore them maze either going in whatever way you feel is necessary this choice is completely up to you because eventually everyone will end up in the same location, you get to decide your storyline by choosing the direction that you want to go in. Once you come across and read your first book you get a description of the monster that is following you and you also get told his name “Hellmouth”. As you then progress further into the maze you are starting to get worried and scared because of the description you have been told of this monster but at the same time curious. There are constantly noises in the background and none of these are pleasant. Your finally get the second book, giving you another description and then with more maze exploration another book with yet again another back story to this monster. As you go further into the maze the noises get freakier and then once you get all the way to finding the fifth book, being on the edge of your seat already  because you are terrified of what’s going to happen next, this is where the real horror commences. As soon as you close out of the description of the fifth book and have read it all the monster begins to hunt, and this is where your sanity level comes into play. As you are starting to get frustrated in the maze and are losing yourself the jump scare begin to happen. Hellmouth has started to show himself to you, since he is an evil spirit, he can also hide from your presence but when the time is right, he strikes. You are terrified and do not want to play no longer because the jump scare that you experienced almost made you fall out your seat. But you get the courage within to continue through the maze again hearing the ambient noises in the background, you come across the sixth book, terrified of what happened when you picked up the last book you read the description of the sixth book and began to move carefully through the maze making sure you don’t lose yourself again like you did last time but AGAIN, HE STRIKES showing himself even scarier this time with loud noises, but this time you knew something was going to happen and where ready. With every jump scare and noise that happens you notice your sanity is going down making it hard to see and your vision becomes blurred. The brave soul that you are, again you progress through the maze finding the seventh book this telling you about what’s going to happen next, Hellmouth will be in his full form hunting  you for your soul, in order for you to win you need to find the eight book and this will grant you access to safety. You begin to sweat because you know, as soon as you leave this description, he will begin his hunt trying to kill you, you know you will have to run for your character life, as you exit you hear a big ROAR from Hellmouth as the intense music begin to play. You run and run barely able to see because your sanity is so low, trying not to get lost you notice that the maze that looked like a grassy maze before began to clear up and you think that it is the end. It is you see the eight book, in the middle of this enormous room you have entered, but you again hear the loud roar as your running towards the eight book, it was from behind you. You quickly turn around and see Hellmouth charging towards you from the inside of the maze where you just came from, with aggression you have never seen before, and he was charging you with the speed of a cheetah. You swiftly turn and run towards the eight book and finally reach it you again rapidly look towards Hellmouth as he is sprinting in your direction but like the wind you turn back around and open the eight book this giving you the animation of completing the game. THE END. Congratulations you have completed the game and defeated the horrifying Hellmouth.

The key features in the game will be:

  • Jump Scares- To make the user be on the edge of his/her seat also making the game way more engaging.
  • Ambient noises for scary atmosphere- Adding this will also make the user feel more afraid whilst his/her exploration of the maze.
  • Sanity Meter- Adding a sanity meter will be a better idea because instead of health because the monster technically cant hurt you till the end it can only make you go insane throughout the collection of the books.
  • Flashlight- The flashlight will help the player be able to see in the dark maze a great YouTube video for help on implementing this is:

This game is a first person, horror, action, and adventure where you are set in this maze and the player has the choice of which route, they want to take. Each route in this game has a different layout so it adds a bit more time onto the gameplay since there will only be one map for now. Each player that plays the game has there own choice on how they want to play it, either speed run all the gameplay and try win it as quickly as possible or play the game to experience the horror elements that the game possesses.

At the start of the creation of this game I would like it to only be on PC because I think for the release of it, it would be played more on PC and this would be a good way to get publicity on the game. Eventually in the future I could see it being on all platform from mobile to consoles and even Nintendo switch.
